Micro commuter Concept
Honda now has revealed a prototype version of its micro-sized urban runabout in the form of a Micro Commuter EV. Shown first as a concept at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show, the Micro Commuter is an ultra-compact four-wheel EV designed for short commutes in the urban jungle. It can seat one adult and two small children or two adults with a slight alteration to the tiny cabin
The Micro Commuter Concept is a three-seater (1+2) vehicle that measures 2,500 mm long, 1,250 mm wide, and 1,430 mm tall with a wheelbase of 1,860 mm. The concept is powered by a 16.7 kW (23 PS / 22 hp) electric motor fueled by a 3.3 kWh lithium-ion battery.
The car has a maximum speed of a little over 60 km/h (37 mph), a 0 to 60 km/h sprint time of 7.4 seconds, and a range of approximately 60 km (37 miles). Battery charging takes less than an hour with a 200 V outlet.
Other features include customizable exterior panels where owners can insert graphic sheets in just about any color or pattern.
Another interesting technology is the multi-use loop battery which powers the systems of the vehicle and is charged via regenerative braking. The battery can be removed and used separately to power electronic items such as a laptop computer.
