Nissan Ariya Concept

Nissan is expanding the range of electric vehicles with the 2022 Ariya SUV, which will be launched in the US market in 2021. Joining the Leaf Hatchback at the Nissan Showroom, Aria offers a range of up to 300 miles, exceeding the Leaf's maximum range of 226. The aria design represents a departure from the current sharp-edged lines found on many Nissan cars.

The low and wide stand of Ariya sets it apart from Rogue and gives it a sporty impression. Two different battery sizes (63.0 kWh battery is standard, larger 87.0 kWh package is optional) and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive are offered.

A variety of driver assistance features, infotainment technology and comfort elements are included here to help the 2022 Ariya compete with the larger EV frequencies as well as the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Kona Electric.

The Ariya is a brand new car for Nissan. Equipped with Nissan's new "ProPilot 2.0" semi-automatic driving system, which debuted in the Nissan Skyline sedan market. Ariya is said to offer a range of up to 300 miles, but only if equipped with an optional dual front / rear engine drive configuration and a larger 87.0kWh battery.

We estimate that the all-wheel-drive Ariya will zip from zero to 60 mph in less than 5.0 seconds, a feat that is similar to higher-end electric vehicles. The base front-wheel-drive model will likely be slower, but we still expect it to offer peppy acceleration that's a characteristic of EV powertrains. This will outperform Leaf and other affordable EVs, but below the base price of the Model Y. We believe that range is important for a successful transition from gasoline to electricity. If the price quote is correct, you can make the battery pack larger. It's of great value.
