This is America From: This is America (2018) Released in 2018, this song commentates deeply on American issues. The sounds of the gospel-style choir, hip-hop, trap sounds, and rumbling bass makes this one of those songs that have many layers. "This Is America" is a critique of American society, of all the negative things that have been branded in recent years: racism, the carrying of guns, shootings, and a bad president, among others.
Donald Glover, better known in the music world as Childish Gambino has emerged as one of the freshest and most innovative artists in R&B, Hip Hop, Soul, and Funk in recent years. He’s also an actor, comedian, singer, rapper, writer, and much more. On the other hand, the song is also a wonderful representation of what it means to be African American in the United States. The video is an incredible satire of American society, made by Hiro Murai, a great Gambino collaborator on the Atlanta series.
